Two boys, one the son of Mary and the other of their housekeeper Mildred, were born only five days apart. Maria started to suspect something was amiss when she overheard staff conversations referring to Joseph as a spitting image of Arnold.
Maria wasted no time and confronted Mildred, asking directly, "Is the boy Arnold’s son?" Touched by the question, Mildred pleaded for forgiveness.
